The Soap Street House

The Soap Street House is a transitional home for homeless, abandoned and orphaned children. In May of 2007 we will be signing a 30 year lease on a home in a suburb of Bucharest. We will not be paying for this lease (as it was generously donated) but the home will need work before it can be opened. We hope to move 25 children into the home sometime in 2008. These children will come from the four to six thousand homeless children in Romania. These children will then receive in addition to basic care: counseling, mentoring, and tutoring. We hope that by rescuing these children from a life on the street; and providing a loving, supportive environment in which they can learn and grow; we will better equip them to function in an adult society and thus help break the cycle of poverty and despair. We hope that the Soap Street House will be the first of many such houses funded by Ana’s Children.
