Why Ana’s Children?

• Clear mission

Strong, committed, diverse leadership with an effective, dedicated staff.

Cost effectiveness
...

We are a charity.  We work hard to minimize all overhead/administrative costs.  The only paid staff we employ are the social workers that work directly with the children and their families in Bucharest, Romania.  Ana’s Children is run and managed by a dedicated, diverse group of talented volunteers -- each contributing their individual skills to minimize overhead costs at every opportunity.  We also make every effort to work with the local government and authorities to obtain all available Romanian aid for the families and children we serve. Please, see our Our Family Assistance Program.

Favor preventative approaches...

We seek to treat the roots of poverty.  Ana’s Children puts special emphasis on children’s education; in order for a family to participate in Our Family Assistance Program all children must attend school full-time.  Additionally, our social workers make a conscious effort to provide positive role models and nurture the children’s goals and dreams.

Are committed to, have knowledge of and have respect for the communities we serve...

We strive to serve the children and families in Bucharest, Romania with all financial, medical and emotional support; while respecting local customs, religious affiliations and family values.

Innovative business plan, that is feasible...

Ana’s Children aims to be a community of diverse people with a common goal: “To do good.”  Ana’s Children started as a small, informal outreach funded by a few friends and family members.  Now, as a formal nonprofit we still value the cohesiveness and sense of community Ana’s Children’s humble beginnings provided.  Ana's Children believes that it is key for our supporters to be constantly informed of our goals, finances, current news and other relevant information in order to be as involved as they choose to be. It is for this reason that we will be producing regular newsletters.  And we highly encourage personally communications between our donors and Ana’s Children’s officers.

Ana’s Children primarily seeks numerous, small donations to fund its programs; in order to achieve a stability that limited, large donors cannot provide.  While Ana’s Children does seek and accept large, limited time donations -- these are budgeted to immediate, short-term projects; project start-up cost; and “rainy day funds.”  We seek to provide solid, consistent care to the children and families we serve; and our business plan reflects this.

Tested, measurable results...

We are very conscious of the need to measure results; consequently, members of our Board of Directors will make bi-yearly trips to Romania to investigate the effectiveness of our programs.  Spending time on the streets with the children and families that we help, reviewing the cases of  'graduated' families, investigating the cost effectiveness of our policies and talking face to face with our extremely capable Romanian staff about their ideas and concerns will give Ana's Children the information it needs to grow and better serve its beneficiaries.  Additionally it will give our sponsors an opportunity to share in our successes.
